Baseball Parks? Which ball park is a pitchers park, but also gives up lots of triples?
How is it that Baseball parks are all different sizes? Basketball, Football, Hockey the playing field or court etc. are exactly the same size across the board. In Baseball the only thing uniform about the field are the bases and the pitching mound. Throughout MLB the outfield varies in size, what is the deal with that?
Should all Baseball parks have standard dimensions? Every other sport has standard dimensions for their playing field; i.e: 100 yard football fields, etc.... It's ok to design a unique ballpark, but make the field dimensions standard instead of having a "hitters" park or a "pitchers" park. To add to that, I know having the fans close to the field makes it more fan friendly, but move the fans slightly away from the field of play and you won't have the Bartman's or Jeffrey Mayers in Baseball.
What baseball parks have you visited? What were your favorites, and your least favorite? I have been to Wrigley Field, the Padres stadium, old Candlestick Park, the new Giants' field, the Oakland A's field, and the old King Dome and of them all I had to like Wrigley by far the best. How about you? Lane County Stadium in Eugene, Ore., was great, too, watching the Emeralds play. I agree that Candlestick was not that bad a park, you could always count on a real interesting game--the weather, the crowd, etc.
Why are these new baseball parks located the way they are? It almost seems as if they were pre - assembled and then purposely nestled in amongst a bunch of old factory buildings. This trend, I believe, started with the park they built in Baltimore a few years back, and since then several others have followed suit. Any ideas on this?
In Major League Baseball, what is the record for a pitcher for most different parks in which they got a win? The question is with respect to parks, not cities. So for instance, if a pitcher got a W in Candlestick Park and also one in AT&T Park, that would increase the total by 2. I'm guessing it might be good to start with Nolan Ryan, since he played many seasons in each league, but someone more recent, who has pitched before during and after all the construction of the new parks in the last 15 years, might be the record holder. Please cite a source or provide a link. Wild guesses or answers with no supporting links, or answering anything just for points are lame! And may be flagged for abuse. CREATIVITY NEEDED: How many different strategies can you think of to attract people to a AAA baseball park? thinking of a way to increase the number of people interested in return regularly to the games... and at the end becoming fans as well! My hometown's local team, Tigres (Tigers in spanish) are evaluating the possibility of moving because of low attendance... I am planning a whole campaign trying to avoid this happening... The management claims to be doing everything to promote it but yet haven't done really much! I wan't to offer them fresh ideas to improve the park's performance...
What to do with the "Old Detroit Tiger Stadium Baseball Park"? My suggestion would be to turn it into a recreational center with a large swimming pool, the locker rooms could become the boys and the girls locker room near the pool. A sporting good store to sell swimming and all detroit sporting goods, since we have so many sporting teams. A nice restaurant everyone can eat at. Include A Detroit "Hall of History" for all citizens and the attracted tourists to visit to show Detroit's Pride. Include a section for conventions and business center. Include a new Medical Facility on site. I feel the Swimming pool is the most Important with so many people opening the fire hydrants in the heat, with no place to swim. Check with the Fire Chief. The Police Chief, and the Mayor and see what they think about the Idea. It can still be called "Tiger Stadium" Problem solved. The Govener, the mayor and all the City Officials all get re-elected.
Nachos at baseball parks (minors or majors)....? Do the nachos at your local park have cheese that is the "nuclear cheese-sauce" or "shredded cheese that is melted before you" I dont think there's ANYWHERE left that has shredded cheese atop a plate of nachos. Am i wrong? What do you prefer for on your nachos - or does it matter at all!?!?!?!?!
whats your favorite and worse baseball parks you have been to before? i didnt like the old kingdom in seattle,wa- i was there in 1996 i had seats in the outfield and there were only blechers in the outfield. i also hate the metrodome in minneapolis- home of the twins-damn you have to take an elevator to get to another level to get nachos. plus the seats are steep and your out of breath by the time you get to the top. i feel very sorry for the people who sale food/drinks in the stands my favorite has to be petro park-i live in san diego and my another favorite is coors field in denver and atlanta stadium
